About Us

History

The REGIM-Lab., established in January 1997 by Prof. Adel M. ALIMI, has evolved over the years to become a renowned research laboratory in the field of intelligent machines. Initially, it was created under the code 01 / UR / 11-02 at the National Engineering School of Sfax (ENIS), University of Sfax. In January 2011, the laboratory transitioned from a research unit to a full-fledged research laboratory under the code LR11ES48. Since May 2021, REGIM-Lab. has been led by Dr. Fadoua DRIRA. Throughout its history, REGIM-Lab. has consistently strived to contribute to the development of science and technology in Tunisia.

Mission and vision

The primary mission of REGIM-Lab. is to produce innovative knowledge for the benefit of humanity. The laboratory serves as a center of excellence in research on intelligent machines, offering its members and partners an environment of research excellence to strengthen their capabilities in developing sustainable and innovative solutions. By focusing on artificial intelligence, REGIM-Lab. aims to address the societal and industrial needs of Tunisia. The laboratory's vision is to be an active contributor to the advancement of science and technology in Tunisia, promoting collaboration with educational and research institutions, qualified laboratories, and national and international industries.

Research team

The research team at REGIM-Lab. is composed of dedicated researchers, scientists, and experts who work together to explore the potential of data science and its application in various fields. The laboratory's four main research axes – (1) Audio & Image & Video Data Science & Engineering, (2) Raw Data Science & Engineering, and (3) Text Data Science & Engineering - form the foundation of the team's research endeavors. Through collaboration with national and international educational and research institutions, qualified laboratories, and industry partners, the research team at REGIM-Lab. strives to develop internationally recognized solutions and contribute to the betterment of society. In summary, the REGIM-Lab. has a rich history, transitioning from a research unit to a prominent research laboratory specializing in intelligent machines.
